Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disorder of the central nervous system characterized by an inflammatory white matter lesion, demyelination and axonal damage. Interestingly, there is evidence to support that specific immune responses are directed to myelin antigens in a minority of patients. To date, the majority of the non-MHC restricted antigens recognized by T cells in MS patients have been found in proteins involved in remyelination. In contrast, there is evidence for T cell responses to both self and foreign antigens in the blood of MS patients. The molecular mechanisms involved in these responses are still unclear. Once expressed and processed, such antigenic peptides may serve as decoy epitopes or could fit the molecular characteristics of MHC class I and class II molecules. A better understanding of the role of the epitope-specific T cell responses in MS patients may provide new tools to study cellular immunopathogenesis of the disease and to identify new therapeutic targets.A British court has ordered an internet service provider to hand over the identity of a computer hacker to police in the UK. The ruling is a significant development in the ongoing battle between UK authorities and cybercriminals, providing the first public opportunity to view UK judges interpreting the 1998 Computer Misuse Act.
The judge in the case ruled that BT should hand over the personal details of a hacking suspect, saying that prosecutors had met the “burden of proof” by showing that they had a “legitimate interest” in the data being granted to them.
